Why Does Spinning Make You Dizzy?
You have three loops of liquid in each ear that sense turning, and when you stop, the liquid does not.

Your eyes see where you are, your ears feel turning, and your joints report how you are standing. Dizziness is what happens when they stop agreeing.

Each ear holds three loops of liquid.
The loops face three different ways, so between them they cover every direction you can turn — nodding, shaking, and tipping your head sideways.

Turning drags the fluid against tiny hairs.
Start to spin and the loop moves while the liquid lags behind, bending a bundle of hairs. Those hairs are what actually report the turn.

Spin steadily and the report fades away.
After a few seconds the fluid catches up and moves with the loop. The hairs straighten, and your ears report no turning at all — even mid-spin.

Stopping is when the trouble starts.
The loop halts but the liquid keeps swirling, bending the hairs the other way. Your ears insist you are spinning backwards while your eyes plainly disagree.
Ballet dancers do not stop feeling this. They learn to distrust it — and spotting, whipping the head round to fix on one point, keeps the fluid disturbed for less time.
