How Do Ants Find Food?
Ants leave scent trails, and the shortest route naturally becomes the strongest.

The queen lays eggs; she gives no orders. Every ant follows simple local rules, and the colony's cleverness emerges from that.

Having found food, it walks back depositing a chemical. Other ants that stumble on the trail tend to follow it — and lay more as they return.

Ants on a short path complete more round trips in the same time, so they lay scent more often. The short route strengthens fastest.

Evaporation lets them change their minds.
The chemical fades within minutes. When food runs out, the trail disappears on its own and the colony goes back to exploring.
This exact mechanism, copied as an algorithm, is used to route delivery vehicles and network traffic.
