The Adventures of Forest Friends

In the woods and in the park,
Many animals come out to embark,
On their daily search for food,
And to find a cozy spot to brood.

The opossum is quiet and shy,
A master of playing dead to lie,
Still as a rock, he fools his foes,
And goes about his business on his toes.

The raccoon is a bandit in the night,
With a mask on his face, he's a sight,
Stealing food from the trashcan heap,
He loves to scavenge and take a leap.

The hawk soars high up in the sky,
With sharp talons, he's hard to deny,
A hunter of small prey down below,
He's a master of the air and knows where to go.

The geese fly south for the winter,
In a perfect V formation, they're no sprinter,
Honking as they make their way,
A sight to see, as they fly away.

The squirrel is a nimble little guy,
Running up trees, he's quick and spry,
Gathering nuts for the winter season,
He's a hard worker, no need for reason.

The dog is a faithful companion and friend,
Loyal to the end, he'll never pretend,
Always happy to be by your side,
He's a trusty friend to always abide.

The duck waddles by the pond,
Quacking all day, he's quite fond,
Of the water, he loves to swim,
And play with his friends on a whim.

The mice are tiny, but oh so bold,
Scurrying around, they never grow old,
Always searching for something to eat,
They're quick and smart, a true feat.

The pigeon coos and flaps its wings,
In the city, it's a common thing,
A symbol of peace, it's known to be,
A bird that's loved by you and me.

So come and see the animals all around,
In the city and the woods, they can be found,
Living their lives, just like you and me,
A part of nature's great beauty.
