Neighborhood Pasta Party

Once upon a time, in a neighborhood so bright,
Lived a group of kids, who loved to play and take flight.
They were excited, for a holiday was near,
And they wanted to make something special, something dear.

They got together, and said, "Let's make some pasta!"
For their neighbor loved it, and they wanted to make her feel better.
They made the dough, and rolled it out so thin,
And cut it into shapes, with a big grin.

While the pasta boiled, they made dessert,
Some sweet and tasty cookies, without any hurt.
There was a turkey too, all golden and brown,
But it was too big, and so they just passed it around.

When everything was ready, they set the table with care,
And invited their neighbor, who was happy to be there.
She said, "This is the best meal I ever had!"
And the kids smiled, feeling happy and glad.

So they all sat down, and shared the meal they made,
With stories and laughter, and joy that never fade.
And as they said goodbye, the neighbor turned and said,
"You all are the best neighbors, and the sweetest kids I've met!"

Reflections

  1. What did the kids make for their neighbor, and why did they choose those particular foods?
  2. How did the neighbor react when she saw what the kids had made for her, and why do you think she was so happy?
  3. What did the kids learn from working together to make the meal, and how do you think they felt about their efforts?
  4. Have you ever done something nice for a neighbor or someone in your community? If so, how did it make you feel?
  5. What do you think are some other ways that people can show kindness and generosity to others, even if they don't know them very well?
