Meeting a Deer with Antlers

There once was a dam by the river
Where the water flowed and did quiver
A clearing nearby was so bright
Where you could play until the night

At the dam, a deer did appear
With antlers on his head, so clear
He said, "Hello, kids, how are you?"
As he came closer, we said, "Moo!"

We were upset, we didn't understand
Why he didn't look like a cow, as planned
He said, "Don't worry, I'm just a deer
With hooves for feet, not like a steer"

He showed us how to jump up high
And run so fast, we could touch the sky
He said, "Now you understand me
Even though I'm not like you, you see"

With a smile, he said goodbye
And off he went, with a jump in his stride
We waved our hands and said, "He's cool!"
A deer with antlers, not a silly old mule!
