Once a caterpillar on a leaf,
A wiggly creature, oh so brief.
It ate and ate, never enough,
Growing bigger, becoming tough.

Then it made a pupa shell,
A safe place for it to dwell.
Inside it changed, transformed anew,
A different stage, a life cycle debut.

Now the pupa breaks apart,
A butterfly begins to start.
With wings so bright, it takes to flight,
A stunning sight, oh what a delight!

To find a mate, the butterfly flies,
And nectar from flowers, it eats and tries.
