Friends in the Burrow

In a tunnel deep and low,
Lived a naked mole rat, you know,
With his burrow all cozy and warm,
He kept safe from the raging storm.

In came a puffin, flapping her wings,
Looking for a place to stay, she sings,
"I'm lost and alone, can I come in?"
The mole rat smiled and said, "Please come in."

Soon a salamander came in as well,
Looking for shelter from the rain's swell,
"I'm cold and wet, can I stay with you?"
"Of course," said the mole rat, "we have room for two."

Together they snuggled, all safe and sound,
In the mole rat's burrow underground,
And they all lived happily, you see,
In the burrow of the mole rat, and the company of three.

  6. How did the animals feel while they were together in the burrow?
  7. What do you think would have happened if the mole rat didn't let the puffin and salamander in?
  8. How can we be kind and helpful to others, like the mole rat was to the puffin and salamander?
