Read together
Once upon a time, in a far-off land,
Lived a little boy with a fishing plan.
He went to the jetty with his hook and bait,
Looking for a fish to be his catch of the day.
As he threw his line into the sea,
A little worm he did see.
He knew that fish liked worms a lot,
So he put it on the hook and gave it a shot.
He waited and waited, feeling quite slow,
When suddenly, the line began to go!
A fish had taken the bait, he knew,
And he caught it with a mighty "woo-hoo!"
He looked at the fish with a happy grin,
Thinking how it was a fish he did win.
He threw it back into the sea with care,
And it swam away without a single fear.
As the sun set over Singapore's shores,
The little boy sang and he adored,
The beauty of nature, the sea and its life,
And how he caught a fish with his hook and his might.
Talk about it
Reflection
- Where did the little boy go to catch fish, and what did he use to catch them?
- What did the boy catch with his hook, and what did he do with it after catching it?
- What did the boy learn about nature during his fishing adventure?
- Have you ever gone fishing or caught a fish before?
- What are some ways that we can appreciate and take care of the natural world around us?
