Read together

In a family, big or small,
There are always relatives who stand tall,
Your grandparent is your elder guide,
With stories and love they always provide.

Your nephew is a little guy,
Whose mischief can make you sigh,
And if you have a niece, so fair,
Her laughter can fill the air.

Your stepbrother and stepsister too,
May seem new but they're family too,
Your half-brother is a friend for life,
A bond that will never cause strife.

And then there's your stepfather,
A man who takes care of you like no other,
And your stepmother, always there to lend a hand,
A motherly figure in your family band.

So cherish each and every one,
In your family, big or small, they're all fun,
Together, you can create memories that last,
A family bond, strong and steadfast.

Talk about it

Reflection

  1. What kind of preparation do you think the girl could have done before going into the woods to avoid getting lost?
  2. How did the girl feel when she realized she was lost, and what did she do to keep herself calm and focused?
  3. What are some survival skills the girl had to use to find her way back to her family?
  4. How do you think the girl's experience of being lost in the woods changed her, if at all?
  5. Do you think the girl's family could have done anything differently to prevent her from getting lost, or to help her once they realized she was missing?
