Finding Courage in the Forest

In a court of law, a case is heard,
By a judge who listens to every word,
A lawyer speaks, they make their case,
And the judge decides with a fair grace.

The Supreme Court is where they go,
For the final word, the final show,
Their decision is the final say,
It guides us all, day by day.

Equality is what we seek,
For every person, every week,
African American or any race,
Deserves justice in every case.

Separate is not equal, we know,
It's a fact that we can't ignore,
In the courtroom or in our schools,
We strive to follow fairer rules.

So remember, kids, the court is there,
To help us make things right and fair,
And everyone, no matter who,
Has the right to be judged anew.
