The Tortoise and the Persimmon: A New Tradition for Nigeria

In a land far away, with a culture so rich,
There lived a tortoise, who loved to dig a ditch.
He lived in Nigeria, where yams were the best,
And his ancestors before him, were truly blessed.

One day, he heard about a fruit so divine,
A persimmon, so sweet, it was worth a shrine.
He traveled afar to Israel's land,
Where Sukkoth was celebrated, so grand.

He saw a synagogue, with people inside,
All gathered together, to honor and abide.
In the corner, was a fruit, he had never seen,
An etrog, so unique, it must be a dream.

He learned of Chusok, a Korean tradition,
Where persimmons were gifted, in a grand exhibition.
He knew he must take this fruit, to his home,
And teach his people, how to use it to roam.

He returned to Nigeria, with a new tradition,
Of gifting persimmons, with love and affection.
His ancestors smiled, as he shared his new find,
A fruit so special, it opened their mind.

Now, every year, they celebrate with joy,
The persimmon, a fruit, that no one can destroy.
And the tortoise is known, as a hero so bold,
Who brought a new tradition, worth more than gold.
