The Mysterious Treasure of the Leprechaun

In a field of green and gold,
Where stories and legends are told,
There lies a treasure, so we're told,
Mysteriously hidden in a hold.

A leprechaun, with his pot of gold,
Is the one who hid it, we are told.
But suspicion shrouds his tale,
For he vanished with no trail.

We search the hedgerow, far and wide,
And wonder where the treasure might hide.
But the dandelions give no clue,
And the leprechaun is nowhere in view.

Perhaps it's a Celtic mystery,
A legend from our history,
Whose secrets we may never know,
And the treasure may never show.

But we'll keep searching, just the same,
Hoping one day we'll find the game.
And if we do, what fun we'll have,
With treasure, legend, and a leprechaun so suave.

Reflections

  1. What do you think about the idea of a treasure being hidden by a leprechaun? Do you believe it's possible?
  2. Why do you think the dandelions and the hedgerow didn't give any clues about the treasure's location?
  3. Did you expect the kids to find the treasure at the end of the story? Why or why not?
  4. What does this story tell us about legends and mysteries? Do you think some stories can be based on true events, or are they all made up?
  5. If you were one of the kids in the story, what would you have done differently to find the treasure?
