Wax and Other Sticky Substances: The Art of Sculpting and Crafting.

In a vat of wax so warm and pure,
We stir and mix it, that's for sure.
Paraffin wax, it's smooth and slick,
But when it cools, it gets quite thick.

We dip our fingers in the tacky goo,
And mold and shape it like we do.
A wad of wax we take and roll,
Into a ball, like a slippery troll.

But sometimes wax gets old and worn,
And needs to be discarded, it's no longer born.
So we strain it through a mesh so fine,
And start anew, our wax design.

Sap and latex are sticky too,
They're different from the wax we use, it's true.
Cows chew cud, and it's their food,
That makes the sticky sap so good.

So now you know, from wax to sap,
We can make things with our hands, clap clap clap!
So let's get creative, and make something new,
Out of these materials, with me and you!

  1. What is the substance being described in the poem?
  2. How does the substance change when it cools down?
  3. What are some things you can do with wax?
  4. What happens when the wax gets old and worn?
  5. What other sticky substances are mentioned in the poem besides wax?
