Customize Your World

Once upon a time, in a land far away,
There was a little girl who loved to play.
She was a certified artist, you see,
And loved to customize everything that she could see.

She had a beret on her head,
And a Roman nose that turned red.
She loved to whittle and create,
And would plod away for hours without debate.

But one day, a fanatic came to town,
And tried to knock the little girl down.
He laughed at her hat and her nose,
And made her feel humiliated and exposed.

The little girl fell to the ground,
Unconscious without a single sound.
But when she woke up, she was filled with glee,
As she saw her customized world, as far as she could see.

So never let anyone bring you down,
Or make you feel like a clown.
Customize your world and make it your own,
And always keep creating, even when you feel alone.

Reflections

Here are a few questions to ask kids to think about the story:

  1. What did the little girl like to do?
  2. How did the fanatic make her feel?
  3. What did the little girl do when she woke up?
  4. Why is it important to embrace your passions and not let others bring you down?
  5. Can you think of something you like to customize or create in your own unique way?
