Read together

Once upon a time, in days of old,
Stories of courage and tales untold,
Of brave men and women, we are told,
Who fought for freedom, and were bold.

The Underground Railroad, a secret way,
To escape from the plantations, and run away,
Led by abolitionists, who worked night and day,
To help the slaves, who could no longer stay.

It was illegal, to mock and jeer,
At the meager existence of those held dear,
But they stood tall, without any fear,
Fighting injustice, year after year.

The abolitionists worked with might,
To end the cruel and unjust plight,
Of slavery, that was a blight,
On humanity, and what was right.

So remember, young ones, to be kind,
And never leave a person behind,
Stand up for justice, and you will find,
The courage to help, and to be refined.

Talk about it
