A Dream for Equality

Once upon a time in our history
People were treated differently
Just because of their skin's hue
It wasn't right, it wasn't true

Segregated was the norm
Race determined where to swarm
But then came those who fought
Nonviolent, their ways were taught

Protest they did, for civil rights
Equal treatment in their sights
For justice and for liberty
They spoke out loud, they did not flee

They dreamt of a world so fair
Where all were treated with care
Where race did not define
And every heart could intertwine

Yet sadly, some tried to eliminate
Those who stood for a better fate
But the fight for equality did not abate
And the world learned to integrate

So remember this story of the past
And let your hearts be steadfast
For we must always stand tall
And answer the call for justice for all.
