The Inventor's Journey

When you're an inventor, so bright and bold,
You dream up things that are new and bold.
You start with an idea in your head,
And then you bring it to life, instead.

You build a prototype, version one,
To see how your invention can be done.
You construct and create with all your might,
Until your model is just right.

You test it out, and then you see,
What works and what needs to be,
Improved upon, or maybe changed,
Until your patent is rearranged.

You communicate your progress to all,
Your family, your friends, and school,
And then you wait and you receive,
Feedback that can help you achieve.

Your final version, the one that's best,
Is ready to share with all the rest.
You'll be proud of all that you've done,
And the impact that you've begun.

Reflections

  1. Have you ever had an idea for an invention or a creation?
  2. What do you think is the most important step in the inventor's journey: prototyping, patenting, communicating, or versioning? Why?
  3. What are some ways you can communicate your invention to others, like your family or your friends?
  4. How might you feel when you receive feedback on your invention? Why is feedback important?
  5. Why do you think it's important to keep improving your invention until you reach the final version?
