Why our loved ones go to fight in a foreign land
They leave their homes and families behind
To serve their country and protect mankind

Some become soldiers, dressed in green
Ready for combat, a fierce fighting machine
Others become allies, from far and wide
Joining forces to turn the tide

But not everyone comes home unscathed
Some suffer from injuries, both physical and grave
Others may experience PTSD
From the horrors of war, that they did see

We must honor their sacrifice and dedication
For keeping us safe, is their ultimate vocation
Remembering those lost, who are no longer here
Their bravery and courage, we hold dear

The end of war brings an armistice
A time to reflect, and to make a promise
To build a better world, for all civilians
And to cherish peace, as our most prized possession

So let us remember the draft and the casualties
And the many lives touched by war's atrocities
We stand in gratitude, for those who fought
And pray for a future, where peace is sought.
