The Secret World of Fungi

In the forest, beneath the trees
Lives a world that's hard to see
It's a world of fungus, dark and damp
But it's a world that's full of camp!

The mycelium's the fungal base
It's like a spiderweb, but in one place
It spreads and spreads, to make a home
For all the fungi who love to roam

From the mycelium, hyphae grow
They're like a maze, or a big dough
They help the fungus eat its fill
Of all the things that it can kill

Reproduce? The fungi do
With sporangia, all shiny and new
These little pods, they make new friends
Who'll grow and spread until the end

And what about those gills, you say?
They help the fungi breathe all day
They're like a lung, but much more fun
'Cause fungi live beneath the sun!

But watch out, kids, for fungus needs
A bit of care, a bit of heed
Fungicide can keep it at bay
So fungi can grow and play all day!
