The Wonderful World of Words

Once upon a time, in a land far away,
Lived a group of words, eager to play.
Their names were strange, hard to understand,
But they each had a story, a tale to command.

First, there was Syntax, the ruler of speech,
He made sure each sentence was within reach.
He kept the words in line, in perfect array,
So the meaning was clear, in each and every way.

Next was Consonant, a letter with might,
He made a sound that was strong and bright.
He stood tall and proud, in every word he spoke,
And his power was felt, with every little stroke.

Then came Anagram, a word that's flipped,
Rearranged its letters, and its meaning then shipped.
It's like a puzzle, a game to enjoy,
A challenge to solve, for each girl and boy.

Simile was next, a word that compares,
It's like a bridge, that connects different affairs.
It makes a sentence richer, with so much more,
Like a bird that soars, or an ocean's roar.

Red-Letter was special, a day to celebrate,
A time to remember, and to appreciate.
A day that's marked, in bold and bright,
A special occasion, to shine with delight.

Heiress was a word, that spoke of wealth,
A girl with power, in her hand and in her health.
She was strong and brave, and a leader too,
A person to admire, and look up to.

Pum was silly, a word that makes you laugh,
It's a sound you make, like a phonics staff.
It's fun to say, and it sounds so strange,
A word that's weird, but it's not out of range.

Palindrome was last, a word that's unique,
It's the same forward and backward, no need to critique.
It's a word like 'racecar', or 'level' too,
A word that's the same, whether old or new.

And last but not least, is Fink, a word with a frown,
It's a person who snitches, who lets others down.
But words can change, and people too,
And with a little kindness, they can start anew.

So here are some words, that are part of our speech,
A language we use, to learn and to teach.
They may seem strange, or hard to define,
But each word is special, and it can surely shine.
