The Motto of Friendship and Adventure

Come gather 'round, my dear young friends,
I've got a story to tell that never ends.
It's about a motto we all should keep,
To strive for the best and never to sleep.

Sometimes there's controversy, we can't deny,
But we can always learn to give it a try.
Be a competitor in everything you do,
And always remember to follow through.

We'll have a ceremony to celebrate,
Our achievements, big or small, we'll elevate.
An international community we'll be,
Respectful of all, united and free.

At the reunion, we'll meet with friends,
And the memories we'll share will never end.
An archaeologist's work is never done,
Discovering secrets, and having fun.

In a procession, we'll march with pride,
All together side by side.
These words we'll remember, that much is true,
Our motto will always guide us through.

Reflections

  1. What does the motto in the poem mean to you?
  2. Have you ever had to compete with someone for something? How did you handle it?
  3. Can you think of a time when you felt proud and celebrated like in the ceremony?
  4. If you could meet someone from a different country, what would you ask them?
  5. What do you think archaeologists do, and why is their work important?
