The Great Plains: Overcoming the Dust Bowl

In the Great Plains, so long ago,
There was a time of great woe,
A problem called the Great Depression,
Left many people with no profession.

The Dust Bowl brought a dusty plight,
Dust storms rose with all their might,
Unemployed farmers faced the pain,
As they watched their crops flout in vain.

The dust pneumonia took its toll,
And left many families feeling whole,
But with the spirit of recovery,
They came together like a family.

They worked hard to heal the land,
With strong and calloused hands,
And slowly but surely, they found,
A way to turn the problem around.

So now we remember those days,
And the strength of the people in so many ways,
For even in the darkest of hours,
There's always a chance to bloom like flowers.
