Marching for Suffrage: A Tale of Believers

Once upon a time, not long ago
A group of women faced a foe
They fought for rights, for suffrage fair
But their fight was met with an unseemly stare

Their efforts were beleaguered, their spirits low
But they stood strong, determined to grow
They marched and picketed, they spoke their mind
And slowly but surely, progress they did find

Through vaudeville shows and lively song
They spread their message all day long
Their voices echoed loud and clear
Until the world began to hear

With ratification finally won
They celebrated, their work done
No longer were they tied by corset strings
Or told what to do by gad-filled kings

And in their pockets, always near
A little Mentholatum to ease their fear
For they knew the fight was never done
But they'd face it together, as one.
