Once upon a time, long ago,
Colonists came, their ships aglow.
They established homes, far and wide,
And hoped that peace would be their guide.
But soon enough, they felt the strain
Of laws imposed, without refrain.
Parliament, across the sea,
Sought to control their destiny.
The colonists, they did protest,
For they believed in what was best.
They formed a militia, strong and true,
To stand against what they knew.
They sent a delegate to plead their case,
And tried to find a common space.
But all their efforts were in vain,
And debt and taxes brought them pain.
So they banded together, to expand,
To form an ally, a united stand.
They vowed to banish tyranny,
And keep their land forever free.
And so, with courage, they did fight,
To protect their homes, day and night.
Their event in history, we recall,
With gratitude, one and all.
