The Journey to a United Nation

Once upon a time in our nation's past
There was a big rebellion that wouldn't last
For the leaders came together to find a way
To create a treaty so peace would stay

They wrote a constitution, a plan for all
To follow laws and never fall
The legislative branch would make the rules
The federal government would help us all in school

The executive branch would enforce the laws
And the judicial branch would make sure there were no flaws
But what happens when they don't agree?
A compromise is made so all can see

So let's remember these words we've learned today
Treaty, rebellion, constitution, compromise, legislative, federal, executive, judicial
For they will guide us as we play
And lead us on the path to a brighter future.

  3. What are the three branches of government, and what are their roles?
  4. What is compromise, and how did it help the leaders come to an agreement?
