Brave Heroes of the Bucket Brigade

Under a thatched roof they did reside,
A bucket brigade their only guide,
To fight the flames that rose so high,
And save their homes before they die.

But in the stockyard, all was not well,
For some with power did others persecute,
Looting and taking, just for themselves,
Leaving the weak and poor to their wealth.

A firebreak was needed, a path to be cleared,
To stop the fire's spread and bring some peace,
But those in charge were lax, indifferent,
And those in need became refugees.

So they fled to slums, with nothing but fear,
And hopelessness all around, oh so clear,
But then a hero came, with a fire hook in hand,
And saved the day, in that far-off land.

And now they live in safety and peace,
Under a thatched roof, with love and release,
For they know that they'll never be alone,
And they'll always have a home.
