The Ere's Brazen Jest

Once upon a time, in a forest filled with wild animals, there lived an ere who was very cunning. He was always up to no good and was known for his corrupt ways. One day, he decided to play a brazen jest on the friars who lived in the nearby abbey.

The ere disguised himself as a deer and blended in with the other animals, using his camouflage skills. When the friars went out to hunt for venison, the ere made his move and stole all their food right from under their noses. The friars were shocked, but the ere just laughed and ran off into the woods, clutching his stolen food.

The friars were determined to catch the thief and set out to find him. But the cunning ere was always one step ahead, and managed to evade them every time. Eventually, the friars came up with a plan to catch the ere. They disguised themselves as trees and waited in the woods for him to return.

When the ere finally appeared, he was caught by surprise and was unable to escape the friars' clutches. The friars brought the ere before the abbot, who listened to their story and decided to give him a fair trial.

At the trial, the ere was found guilty of his crimes and was sentenced to return all the stolen food and perform community service for the rest of his days. The ere was ashamed of his actions and vowed to change his ways. From that day on, he lived a life of conviction and was never seen stealing or playing any more jests again.
