The Treaty of the Forest Animals

Once upon a time, there was a group of animals who lived in a forest. They had a constitution that governed their land and kept the peace. But one day, a group of rebels decided they didn't want to follow the rules anymore. The executive branch tried to compromise, but the rebels refused to listen.

Just as the situation was about to get out of hand, a wise old owl flew down and suggested they make a treaty. The treaty would allow for a little rebellion, as long as the federal laws were still followed. And so, the animals learned the importance of compromise and the value of following the rules. The end.

Reflections

  1. Why did the rebels not want to follow the rules of the constitution?
  2. How did the executive branch try to solve the problem?
  3. What was the solution that the wise old owl suggested?
  4. Why was it important for the animals to follow federal laws even if they were allowed some rebellion?
