The Mean King and the Gift of Water

Once upon a time, in a dry and terribly hot land, there was a mean king who thought he owned all the water. Every day, he would make the villagers pay for every drop they drank, which was a nuisance to them. However, one day, the king was in for a surprise. A vast body of water appeared immediately after a heavy rain, much to the delight of the villagers. They no longer had to suffer from the king's meanness and could freely enjoy the gift of water. The end.

  1. Why was the king mean to the villagers?
  2. How did the villagers feel about paying for water?
  3. What happened when the heavy rain came?
  4. How did the villagers react to the surprise gift of water?
  5. What can we learn from the story about kindness and sharing?
