The Ball, the Jug, and the Sum

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Sarah. She loved to play with her ball, and she would roll it all over the rug in her room. One day, Sarah's mother gave her a new jug to put her toys in. Sarah was so excited to put her ball in the jug, but when she tried, the ball wouldn't fit. She tried and tried, but the ball was just too big.

Sarah's mother saw her struggling and suggested that she try something else. "Why don't you put some of your other toys in the jug, like your dolls or blocks?" she said. So Sarah gathered up a few of her dolls and some blocks and put them in the jug. She was so proud of herself for filling the jug up all the way.

But then Sarah remembered her ball. She still wanted to play with it, but she didn't know how to make it fit in the jug. She thought and thought, and then she had an idea. She went to her mother and asked her to help her count how many dolls and blocks were in the jug. Together, they counted and found out there were 6 dolls and 8 blocks. Sarah's mother helped her add the numbers together and they got the sum of 14.

Sarah was so excited, she ran to her room and got her ball. She held it up next to the jug and realized that the ball was the exact same size as the sum of her dolls and blocks. She put the ball into the jug, and it fit perfectly. From that day on, Sarah loved playing with her ball and all her other toys, and she was so happy that she found a way to make them all fit in her new jug. The end.
