Max and the Melting Statue

Once upon a time, there was a sculptor named Max. He loved to carve statues out of blocks of ice. One day, he carved a beautiful statue of a snowman. But as the sun rose higher in the sky, the statue began to melt. Max was very sad because he had worked so hard on the statue. But then he had an idea! He decided to carve the statue out of a different material that wouldn't melt. So instead of ice, he used a special type of clay. And when he finished, the statue was even more beautiful than the one he had carved out of ice! The end.

Reflections

  1. Why was Max sad at the beginning of the story?
  2. What did Max do instead to make a statue that wouldn't melt?
  3. How was the statue made out of clay different from the one made out of ice?
  4. Was Max happy with the final statue he made? Why or why not?
