The Brave Boy and the Voracious Monster

Once upon a time, there was a little village where everyone lived in peace and happiness. But one night, a terror came to the village in the form of a voracious monster. The monster would slosh its way through the village at night, causing everything in its path to shake violently.
People were so scared that they started to stay up all night, afraid to go to sleep and fall into the monster's clutches. They were exhausted, but terror kept them from slumber.
One day, a brave young boy decided to face the monster and put an end to the terror. He confronted the monster and found out that it was just a big, friendly creature who was hungry and looking for food. The boy shared his food with the monster, and from then on, the monster stopped bothering the villagers and went back to its own home.
From that day on, the villagers slept soundly, no longer afraid of the monster's terror. They learned that sometimes things that seem scary are actually just misunderstood and in need of a friend.

Reflections

  1. Why did the villagers stay up all night?
  2. How did the boy feel when he learned what the monster really was?
  3. What lesson did the villagers learn about things that seem scary?
  4. How can we be brave like the boy in the story?
