Once upon a time, in a far-off land, there lived an alligator named Gus. Gus loved to spend his days lounging in the sun and swimming in the nearby pond. One day, while out for a swim, Gus spotted an apple floating in the water. Being a curious alligator, Gus swam over to investigate. As he took a bite of the apple, he realized it was the most delicious thing he had ever tasted!
From that day on, Gus couldn't get enough of apples. He would swim around the pond searching for them, and when he found one, he would chomp it up with a big smile on his face.
One day, as Gus was lounging on the bank of the pond, he saw a bus drive by. The bus was filled with animals, and Gus could see a dog, a duck, and even an elephant sitting inside. Gus was fascinated by the bus and wondered where it was going.
Just then, the bus came to a stop next to Gus. The door opened, and out stepped a friendly-looking elephant. "Hi there, Gus!" the elephant said. "I'm Ellie, and I noticed you admiring our bus. We're on our way to a big ball, and we were wondering if you'd like to come along."
Gus was overjoyed at the invitation and quickly climbed aboard the bus. The dog, duck and elephant were also happy to see him. The bus ride was bumpy, but Gus was having the time of his life. Finally, they arrived at the big ball.
The ball was held in a huge, beautiful palace and was filled with all sorts of animals, all dressed up in their finest clothes. Gus felt a bit out of place in his scaly skin, but Ellie reassured him that he looked great.
As they danced the night away, Gus couldn't help but notice that his elbow was sore from all the dancing. But he didn't care, he was having too much fun.
And from that day on, Gus was known as the alligator who loved apples and loved to dance. He went to many balls and made many friends. And every time he saw an apple, he thought back to that wonderful day when he first discovered how delicious they could be.
