The Ants and the Pupa Butterfly

Once upon a time there was a colony of ants who lived near the ocean. One day, while gathering food, an ant stumbled upon a pupa that had been washed up by the tide. The ant was filled with dismay because it knew that the pupa would not survive without its colony to care for it.

The ant gathered its friends and they worked together to carry the pupa back to the safety of their colony. But as they approached their home, they noticed that the moat around it had grown much wider and deeper, making it impossible for them to reach the other side. The ant leader then remembered that there was a node on the opposite side of the moat, where they could cross safely.

The ants quickly made a bridge from twigs and leaves to the node and continued to carry the pupa across. But as they reached the other side, the pupa suddenly started to wriggle and shake. To their surprise, it had transformed into a beautiful butterfly!

The butterfly spread its wings and flew up into the sky, thanking the ants for their help. As it flew away, the ants noticed that its thorax and abdomen were shining with a rainbow of colors, and they realized that it was a special kind of butterfly, one that brought good luck to those who helped it.

From that day on, the ants lived happily, with their moat filled with the colorful butterflies, and they never forgot the lesson they learned about helping others in need.

  3. What did the ants build to cross the moat?
  4. What happened when the pupa reached the other side?
  5. Why did the ants live happily after that day?
