First Week at Boarding School

A new classmate overseas finds pocket money, a compass, and creative club equipment while learning how activity fills the day.

Read together

Boarding school felt huge on day one. An overseas classmate shared a map and a
small compass. "Activity starts after lunch," she said. "Bring pocket money for
the snack line."

Creative club had equipment for painting and a soft poem corner. Friends sat in a
ring and let sound surround them — laughter, steps, a bell. The new student wrote
one short poem about home, then joined a ball game in the yard.

By Friday the boarding halls felt less strange. Compass in the bag, classmates
nearby, creative work finished, pocket money counted. Overseas was still far, but
the school day had a clear shape — and that was enough for a strong first week.
