Choosing a Hobby

A student tries bird-watching, a board game, and cycling before choosing clay pottery as a weekend hobby.

Unit one asked everyone to arrange a plan for a new hobby. Bird-watching came
first — quiet eyes, distant wings. A board game filled a rainy hour with friends.
Carve was too sharp a word for beginners, so they pressed soft clay instead.

Collecting cards felt small. Cycling cleared the head on a long path. Fishing
needed a lake they did not have. A model plane waited on a shelf. Pottery class
smelled like earth. Skate practice rattled the park.

By Friday the choice was clay: hands busy, mind calm, a hobby that could grow
week by week. The board game stayed for parties. The bicycle stayed for sunny
roads. Pottery stayed as the main craft.
