Moving the Living Room

Two housemates rearrange a living room — sofa, carpet, lamp, and television — before guests arrive.

Read together

Sam: The living room looks crowded. Can we slide the sofa toward the window?

Lee: Careful of the carpet. Lift the corner so it does not fold.

Sam: The floor lamp is tipping. Hold it while I move the table.

Lee: Put the armchair by the bookcase. Guests like that corner.

Sam: Where should the television face? Straight at the sofa?

Lee: Yes. Hang the picture a little higher above the clock.

Sam: The plant needs light. Near the lamp or by the window?

Lee: Window. The floor lamp is for evening reading, not for leaves.

Sam: Books go back on the bookcase — no stacks on the carpet.

Lee: Deal. Soft light, clear path, and the sofa where people can talk.

Sam: One more thing — dust the table before the snacks arrive.

Lee: Already wiping it. This living room finally feels open again.

What did they move first, and where did the plant end up?
