Thursday at the Shore

On Thursday, a family watches a shark poster at the fish stall, buys cheese, and sits on a chair while sheep noise carries from a farm truck.

Read together

Thursday smelled like the sea and warm bread. Three children wanted cherry ice,
but first they looked at a painted shark on the fish board.

"That shark is only a picture," Mother said. "These are real fish for dinner."
They chose a firm fish and a block of cheese. A wooden chair waited by the stall
while Father paid.

On the walk home a truck rattled past with sheep. One sheep stamped; another
shook its wool. "They sound louder than three drums," a child laughed.

At the table they shared fish, cheese, and sliced cherry tomatoes. Mother asked
them to bathe before bed. Someone left a shell on the chair — a small reminder
of Thursday, the shore, and the funny sheep that would not stay quiet.

What did they buy, and which sound made the child laugh?
