How Will We Get There?

Mia and her dad choose a way to get across town before the school show starts. They weigh a bus, a taxi, and a train against time and cost.

Read together

Mia: Dad, the school show starts in forty minutes. How will we get there?

Dad: The bus stop is close, but the bus is often late on Fridays.

Mia: What about a taxi? It can go straight to the door.

Dad: A taxi is fast, but it costs more. Do we have cash in the wallet?

Mia: Only a little. We could take the train to the station near school.

Dad: Good idea. The train is on time, and then we walk five minutes.

Mia: Could we ride the bicycle instead? That would be free.

Dad: The bicycle is fine for short trips, but it is raining and the road is wet.

Mia: Then the train is safest. No traffic lights, no long wait for a bus.

Dad: Pack your bag. We will walk to the station, buy tickets, and sit by the window.

Mia: If we miss this train, can we still take a van from the next stop?

Dad: Yes — but we will not miss it. Come on. The show will not wait for a helicopter.
