The Careful Giraffe and the Soft Bunny

Once upon a time, in a land far away,
Lived a tall giraffe who liked to play.
He was careless with his long neck,
Knocking things over with just a little peck.

One day he met a soft little bunny,
Who taught him to be careful and not so funny.
She showed him how to be gentle and kind,
And to pay attention so as not to be blind.

The giraffe learned to be careful and slow,
And not to knock things down with his nose.
He learned that being careful was right,
And it made him feel good deep inside.

The bunny was short but she was smart,
And she knew just how to play her part.
Together they learned that being careful was key,
And they played happily as friends, just like you and me.

So remember kids, it's not always easy,
To do the right thing and be a bit cheesy.
But it's important to try and do no wrong,
And to be careful and soft, and sometimes hard and strong.

Reflections

Here are a few questions to ask kids to think about the poem:

  1. Who are the main characters in the poem, and what are their personalities like?
  2. What does the giraffe learn from the bunny, and why is it important?
  3. How does the giraffe feel after learning to be careful and gentle?
  4. Why do you think it's important to be careful and gentle with others?
  5. How can you be like the bunny and help others learn to be careful and gentle?
