Friends Come in All Shapes and Sizes

Once upon a time, in a land far away
There lived a group of friends who liked to play
There was Fat and Thin, who were quite different in size
But they didn't let that stop them from being allies

Then there was Empty, who felt quite sad
But Beautiful reminded her she wasn't half bad
Stinky made jokes and made everyone laugh
And Sweet always shared her candy stash

Finally, there was Ugly, who thought she was the worst
But her friends reminded her she was loved and not cursed
They showed her that being different was just fine
And that it's what's inside that makes you shine

So Fat, Thin, Empty, Beautiful, Stinky, Sweet, and Ugly
Played together happily, and never felt smugly
For they learned to embrace their uniqueness
And that being yourself is the best way to happiness.

Reflections

  1. Who were the different characters in the poem?
  2. How were the characters different from each other?
  3. Did the characters let their differences come between them, or did they become friends?
  4. What did the characters learn about themselves and each other?
  5. Why is it important to accept and appreciate people's differences?
