Lost in the Woods

In winter's cold and icy grip,
The snowflakes dance and spin and slip.
But when the sun shines bright and clear,
The snowman starts to disappear.

He starts to melt and drip and flow,
Until there's nothing left to show.
But if you watch him close and near,
You might just see a magic tear.

For though he's gone, he still lives on,
In memories of love and fun.
And if you stand and touch the ground,
You'll feel his warmth and love abound.

So when you pass by winter's hold,
And see the snow and feel the cold,
Just dig a hole and plant a kiss,
And know that love is never amiss.

For even though the snow might burn,
And explode with heat and yearn,
We'll sit and watch the world go by,
And know that love will never die.

Reflections

  1. What happens to the snowman when the sun shines bright and clear?
  2. What does the snowman leave behind when he disappears?
  3. What does it feel like to touch the ground where the snowman once stood?
  4. How can we remember the love and fun we had with the snowman?
  5. What does the poem teach us about love and memories?
