The Power of Silence

Once upon a time in a land so wide,
There were creatures of every shape and size.
Some were silent, moving with a glide,
While others were soft, like a butterfly.

The forest was quiet, the air so still,
And in this calm, the creatures did chill.
But then came the thundering elephant,
Roaring with power, a magnificent chant.

The lion too, with its mighty roar,
Made the ground shake, like never before.
And the monkeys, oh so rowdy and fun,
Swinging from trees, until the day was done.

But amidst all this noise and sound,
There was one creature, always around.
A little mouse, so quiet and small,
Always keeping to its own crawl.

Yet, in its silence, it was so strong,
A lesson for all, to not judge too long.
For even the softest and quietest of all,
Can have a power, that's not so small.

Reflections

  1. Who were the different animals in the story, and what were their different characteristics?
  2. How did the elephant and lion make their presence felt with their thundering and roaring sounds?
  3. Why do you think the mouse was silent and kept to itself?
  4. What lesson do you think the other animals learned from the mouse's quiet strength?
  5. Do you think it's important to be loud and rowdy to be strong and powerful, or can silence be just as powerful?
