The Busy Bee and her Hive

Once upon a time, in a land far away,
There lived a little bee who loved to play.
She buzzed around from flower to flower,
Gathering pollen for her hive's power.

Her wings were threaded, light as a feather,
Helping her fly in any kind of weather.
Her spatial awareness was quite a sight,
Navigating through the air with all her might.

Her hive was stable, strong and secure,
Protecting her family, now and forevermore.
At the terminal end of each busy day,
She returned to her hive, ready to stay.

The honeycomb cells were symmetric and neat,
Perfect for storing honey, oh so sweet.
The swarm of bees all worked as one,
To ensure their hive's work was never done.

They worked in a ternary system, you see,
With three different jobs for each busy bee.
Gathering nectar, making honey and wax,
All for the hive's survival, that's the facts.

In the center of the hive, a square could be found,
The queen's chamber, where she was crowned.
The little bee knew her job, to keep the queen fed,
So the hive would thrive and she could go to bed.

And so the little bee worked day and night,
Keeping her hive strong and shining bright.
The world is a better place, thanks to her,
And her hard work, for all to infer.

  1. What was the main character of the story, and what was her job?
  2. What are some of the different jobs that bees do in the hive, and how do they work together to keep the hive running smoothly?
  3. What are some of the different features of the hive that the poem describes, such as its stability, symmetry, and spatial organization?
  4. How does the little bee's work help the other bees in the hive, and why is it so important to their survival?
  5. What are some of the different ways that bees help the environment, and why are they such important insects?
