The Tree's Strength

In a world of wonder and surprise,
Where nature rules and beauty lies,
There lived a tree so strong and tall,
Its branches reaching for the sky so small.

The trunk was rigid, straight and true,
And every branch was plumb and new,
But as the sun beat down each day,
Some branches warped and bent their way.

The tree, it seemed, was falling apart,
But then a wondrous thing did start,
For in the soil beneath its roots,
Something happened that bore some fruits.

The water soluble in the ground,
Made the tree's strength all around,
And tempered it with new found power,
To weather any storm, any hour.

Now every branch, both big and small,
Grew outwards in a radial sprawl,
And the tree stood tall once more,
Stronger than ever before.

So remember, children, when you're feeling weak,
That strength can come from what you seek,
And just like the tree, you can stand tall,
And be the best version of yourself, once and for all.

Reflections

  1. What made the tree's branches warp and bend in the sun?
  2. How did the soluble nutrients in the soil help the tree?
  3. What did the tree look like after it grew outwards in a radial sprawl?
  4. Why is it important to remember that strength can come from what we seek?
  5. Can you think of a time when you had to be strong and resilient like the tree in the story?
