Exploring Movement and Science: A World of Words

Our bodies move in many ways,
With every step we take and play,
We can run and jump and dance,
And spin around like in a trance.

A bar can help us hold on tight,
As we swing and climb with all our might,
We can hang upside down and grin,
And feel the wind rush past our skin.

Acceleration is the speed we gain,
When we ride down a slide or train,
We feel the rush and whoosh and zip,
As we accelerate on our trip.

Our hearts beat fast when we're excited,
Or when we're scared, they're ignited,
Our pulse quickens, our breath gets fast,
As we feel emotions that will last.

An angle is a shape we see,
When we look at things carefully,
It can be big or small or wide,
Or even round like a pie inside.

Advection is a science word,
For how air and water move, unheard,
It helps explain how clouds and waves,
Drift and swirl and dance like raves.

Baryons are tiny things we cannot see,
But they're part of everything, even you and me,
They make up protons and neutrons too,
And without them, our world would be askew.

Albedo is the measure of how much,
Light is reflected off a surface's touch,
It tells us if it's bright or dull,
And helps us see things clear and full.

So now you know a bunch of words,
That describe our world, like little birds,
Fly and sing and chirp and tweet,
And tell us things that are really neat!

Reflections

  1. What are some ways our bodies can move according to the paragraph?
  2. Can you think of a time when your heart beat fast? What caused it to happen?
  3. What is advection and what does it help explain?
