In a land of sandstone and sapwood trees,
Where the sun sets and the breeze blows free,
Lived a carpenter with his trusty tools,
Ready to build and craft with his rules.
He climbed the scaffold with a confident stride,
And reached for his sanding paper with pride,
He smoothed out the edges with care and might,
And made it perfect, oh what a sight!
He picked up his saw and began to carve,
A piece of wood that he'd soon starve,
With scarfing and shaping, he made it smooth,
And the sap began to ooze and soothe.
He picked up his hammer and began to nail,
A scotia and sash with no time to fail,
He worked and worked until it was done,
And admired his work, a masterpiece, just one.
But as he went to put away his gear,
He noticed a scab, a wound so clear,
He sighed and shook his head in dismay,
And knew he'd be more careful the next day.
So children, remember to be safe and sound,
As you play and explore all around,
And if you get hurt, don't fret or wail,
Just remember the carpenter's tale.
