When you light a fire, it starts to ignite
The flames dance and flicker, oh what a sight!
Logs and twigs begin to burn
The heat they give off, you can feel and learn

As the fire grows, the wood will char
It turns black, but still burns like a star
The flames rise higher, they start to blaze
And the warmth spreads out in so many ways

When it's time to cook, the fire's heat is used
We bake and we broil, until it's infused
The food gets crispy, it starts to blister
But don't touch it yet, or it might still blister

A fire can be scary, but also fun
Just be careful, and it can be easily done
So enjoy the warmth, and the light it brings
