Listen to the Wise Old Owl

Once upon a time, in a land far away,
A wise old owl perched on a tree to say,
"Children, beware of the dangers that lurk,
For a lion and wolf can be quite a quirk."

The children listened with wide-eyed fear,
For they knew that danger could be near,
But the owl said, "Fear not, my dear,
For if you're smart, you have nothing to fear."

"Stay away from the lion, and keep your distance from the wolf,
And if you see them coming, just be ready to bolt.
But if you're ever lost in the woods all alone,
Just hoot and holler, and I'll guide you home."

So the children learned to be brave and strong,
And they knew how to keep themselves from harm.
Thanks to the owl, they could play and roam,
And they always felt safe in their happy home.

Reflections

  1. Who was the wise character in the story and why was he important?
  2. What did the children learn about lions and wolves and how did they keep themselves safe?
  3. What are some other ways to stay safe when playing outside or in the woods?
  4. How did the children feel at the end of the story?
  5. What other animals might they encounter in the woods and what should they do if they come across one?
